Sri Lanka, Aug. 2 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued its weather forecast for today (2).

According to the forecast, rain or thundershowers are expected in several areas after 1 PM.

This includes the Northern, North-Central, Uva, Eastern, Central, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Kurunegala and Hambantota districts.

Some places in these regions may experience fairly heavy rainfall of around 75mm.

The department also stated that a few showers can be expected in the Western province and the Galle, Matara, and Puttalam districts.

The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimise the dangers posed by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with the thunderstorms.
