Sri Lanka, Dec. 31 -- Kasun Munasinghe, the Chairman of the Mathugama Pradeshiya Sabha (representing the SJB), has surrendered to the Mathugama Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) office today (31). He arrived at the office to provide a statement regarding the alleged assault on the Council's Secretary.
The incident occurred last morning (30), following a heated dispute over a development project.
According to the police complaint:
The Secretary, Nelu Nishanthi Iddagoda, stated that the Chairman entered her office and verbally threatened her.
He reportedly then hit the Secretary on her right shoulder.
She is currently receiving treatment as an in-patient at the Weththewa District Hospital in Mathugama.
