Sri Lanka, July 21 -- The Matara Nilwala River Park has been temporarily ordered to close until the 26th of August by Matara Chief Magistrate Aruna Indrajith Buddadasa.

This order, issued today (21) to Mar Coop River Restaurant (Private) Limited, follows a request from Matara Headquarters Police, citing the park's unsafe conditions and unauthorised constructions causing public nuisance.

Police informed the court that four individuals had complained about the park being unsafe and a source of public nuisance. Based on these complaints, an investigation is underway, leading to the police's request for the park to be closed to the public.
