Sri Lanka, March 15 -- Mark Carney was sworn in as Canada's prime minister on Friday, succeeding Justin Trudeau. Carney, 59, emphasized a different approach to relations with U.S. President Donald Trump, expressing confidence in finding mutual solutions despite Trump's proposed tariffs that could harm Canada's economy.
Carney announced he had no immediate plans to speak with Trump but dismissed talk of Canada's annexation as "crazy." He reshaped his 24-member cabinet with a focus on managing ties with Washington, reducing nearly half of the ministerial positions inherited from Trudeau.
