Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- A man who allegedly tore out and chewed two pages from a police logbook at the Mahawa Police Station has been released on bail by the Mahawa Magistrate's Court today (27).

The 36-year-old man, a resident of Polkatuwa, Mahawa, was arrested on charges of obstructing police duty and damaging state property.

The incident occurred after the man, who had filed a complaint against two individuals for defamation, returned to the station and requested to withdraw his case.

After the police informed him the matter had been concluded, he allegedly insisted on seeing the police logbook, at which point he tore out and chewed two of its pages.
