Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- A man was killed in a shooting incident on Wewa Road, Wennappuwa, today (31) morning.

Police said the victim was returning from the Wennapuwa police station when he was shot dead. According to police, a group in a car attacked the man and another person who were travelling on a motorcycle.

They first assaulted the two riders with a sharp object before shooting them. According to police, the victims were returning after signing at the Wennapuwas Police Station in relation to an ongoing High Court case.

The man who was shot dead was to receive a court ruling on September 9.
