Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- A 50-year-old man was killed following a wild elephant attack in the Ranawaranawa area within the Lunugamvehera National Park last night (7). The victim has been identified as a father of three and a resident of Parakramapura in Kuda Oya.
According to the Kuda Oya Police, Dharmasena had entered the forest reserve to collect wild honey when he was charged by the elephant.
He reportedly died on the spot due to the severity of his injuries. The body was discovered by a local resident who subsequently alerted the police via the emergency hotline.
The remains have been placed at the Thanamalwila Base Hospital pending a post-mortem examination.
