Sri Lanka, July 19 -- A 44-year-old man, a father of three, died today (19), around 10:00 AM, after a branch from an eucalyptus tree fell on his head.

Maskeliya Police confirmed the incident.

The victim was a resident of the Mottingham section of the Maskeliya Brunswick Estate.

He had gone to the tea plantation to collect firewood amidst the prevailing strong winds and rain.

A tree branch, brought down by the windy conditions, then fell on his head, causing his death.

The body of the deceased has been placed at the Maskeliya Regional Hospital.

Maskeliya Police stated that it will be transferred to the Dickoya Base Hospital for a post-mortem examination by a judicial medical officer.
