Sri Lanka, Jan. 23 -- A 52-year-old father of three succumbed to head injuries at the Monaragala District General Hospital after a branch from a teak tree fell on him in the Ellalanda area. The victim, identified as R.M. Jayatissa, lived in the Dombagahawela region.
The incident occurred while the victim was assisting three others in felling a teak tree belonging to a neighbour. As they used ropes to pull the tree down, a branch struck him on the head, causing critical injuries that led to his hospitalisation. A post-mortem examination was conducted at the Monaragala District General Hospital following his passing. Dombagahawela Police are currently conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the event.
