Sri Lanka, Oct. 25 -- Bandaragama Police report that a married man drowned in the Kothalawala Uyanwatta Lake yesterday (24).

The deceased was a 34-year-old resident of the Aduragala area in Ingiriya, who was employed as a clerk at the Horana Urban Council.

According to the Police, the victim left home after returning from work for an unspecified need but did not return.

A search conducted by his brother found the victim's motorcycle near the sluice gate of the Kothalawala Uyanwatta Lake.

Following an alert to the Police, divers were deployed and recovered the body from underwater.

Police noted that a statement from his wife revealed the deceased was undergoing treatment for a mental illness.
