Srilanka, Dec. 28 -- A 57-year-old resident of Samarugama, Ayagama, died at the Ratnapura Hospital while receiving treatment for injuries sustained during a physical assault.

Ayagama Police initiated an investigation yesterday (27) morning after receiving a formal complaint regarding the incident.

Preliminary findings suggest that the victim had visited a neighbour's house on the evening of the 26th.

An argument reportedly broke out between the victim and the homeowner, which escalated into a physical attack.

The 40-year-old suspect, who owns the house where the altercation occurred, was arrested by the police.

Further investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the dispute.
