Sri Lanka, Jan. 29 -- A 41-year-old resident of Mulleriyawa has been arrested with 2kg 218g of heroin in the Udamulla area of the Mulleriyawa Police Division.

The arrest was made in the early hours of yesterday (28) by officers of the Colombo Crimes Division, based on information received as part of the Sri Lanka Police's island-wide crime and drug prevention operations under the directives of the Acting Inspector General of Police.

During the raid, officers also seized Rs. 667,000/-, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking, along with three mobile phones and a car used for the operation.

The Colombo Crimes Division is conducting further investigations.
