Sri Lanka, June 24 -- Police have arrested a man who allegedly set his wife, mother, and sister-in-law on fire and then struck his wife with a pole, causing injuries. All three victims, who sustained burn injuries, are currently receiving treatment at Panadura Hospital.
The incident occurred today (24), around 12:20 PM in the Lunawa area, 8th Lane, No. 02 Fisheries Housing Scheme, Moratuwa. Police believe the crime stemmed from a family dispute that escalated.
The suspect's 28-year-old wife, a mother of two, along with his mother and sister-in-law (his wife's sister), were the victims of the petrol attack. The wife had recently returned to Sri Lanka about a month ago from overseas and was preparing to travel abroad again.
