Sri Lanka, June 18 -- Police have arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly robbed his 70-year-old lover of jewellery worth Rs. 160,000. A 24-year-old man who aided and abetted the robbery has also been apprehended, according to Wahalkada Police.

The stolen items reportedly include a gold necklace with a pendant and a bracelet. The robbery occurred when the woman met her lover near the Wahalkada tank bund at his invitation.

The suspect and his accomplice are said to be fishermen residing in the Wahalkada area.

The 70-year-old victim, a woman from Wennappuwa, sustained injuries during a struggle during the robbery and has been hospitalised. It is reported that she had left her husband and child and was working in various areas, currently...
