Sri Lanka, May 27 -- The final rites for the late "Queen of Sri Lankan Cinema," Malini Fonseka, were conducted on Monday (26), with full state honours at Independence Square in Colombo.
The ceremony was attended by the Maha Sangha, alongside Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya representing the government, cabinet ministers, politicians, artistes, and members of the public.
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya delivered the President's message of condolence.
Fonseka's remains, which had been laid at the Tharangani Hall of the National Film Corporation, were brought to Independence Square at approximately 8:00 AM.
The public had the opportunity to pay their final respects from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
