Sri Lanka, Aug. 30 -- The Malaysian Checkpoints and Border Agency (MCBA) has refused entry to twelve foreign nationals, including nine Sri Lankans, at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex yesterday.

The individuals were denied entry on suspicion of being "bogus tourists."

According to MCBA Commander SAC Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir, the group violated Section 8(3) of Malaysia's Immigration Act by lacking valid visas, failing to comply with required break of stay periods, and having questionable travel purposes.

The twelve individuals who received Notices of Refusal of Entry comprised eight Sri Lankan men, one Sri Lankan woman, and three Thai women.
