Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- Major renovations of the Sri Lanka Parliamentary Complex have begun for the first time in over 42 years.

The renovations are being carried out with Cabinet approval and under the direction of the Speaker, Dr Jagath Wickramaratne.

The large-scale project includes several key areas of the complex.

Currently, work is underway to remove the soil layer from the concrete roof terrace and perform necessary repairs.

Additionally, renovations are being done on the roof gutters, copper doors, Parliament Medical Center, washrooms, and Members' Dressing Room.
