Sri Lanka, Feb. 5 -- Major General Chandana Wickremasinghe has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, with the appointment set to take effect from February 9, 2025.

A senior officer of the Gajaba Regiment, Major General Wickremasinghe previously served as the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) from January 2, 2025. Before that, he was the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, where he demonstrated notable leadership and operational expertise.

He also continues to serve as the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment, further reflecting his longstanding commitment to the Army and its personnel.
