Srilanka, Nov. 28 -- A major flood warning was issued for the low-lying areas along the Attanagallu Oya and Urugal Oya valleys following heavy rainfall across several catchment areas of the Attanagallu Oya Basin.

The Irrigation Department indicated that, based on current river levels and prevailing conditions, severe flooding is likely within the next six hours. The alert specifically affects Gampaha town and its surrounding areas.

Residents, as well as motorists and passengers travelling through these regions, are urged to exercise extreme caution to protect lives and property. Disaster Management authorities have been instructed to take all necessary measures to ensure public safety.
