Sri Lanka, April 24 -- Train services on the main line, which were disrupted due to a derailment, have now been restored. However, the Railway Department notes that train delays resulting from the incident are still occurring.
Delays were caused after a train travelling from Colombo Fort to Meerigama derailed near the Gampaha railway station yesterday (23). While this did not affect train services arriving in Colombo from Polgahawela, it did disrupt services travelling from Colombo towards Polgahawela.
The Railway Department has confirmed that this affected section of the track was restored to normal operation this morning (24).
