Sri Lanka, Dec. 18 -- Authorities decided to close Mahamaya Girls' College in Kandy indefinitely to ensure the safety of students following several landslides on Rajapihilla Mawatha, located above the school premises. Heavy rainfall in the region triggered the instability.

Principal Sashikala Senadheera noted that while the school had reopened on December 16, a team from the National Building Research Institute (NBRI) inspected the area and warned of a significant landslide risk if rains continue.
