Srilanka, Nov. 20 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (20) rejected a request made by a suspect involved in a fraud case concerning the embezzlement of over $11,000 to travel abroad.

The request was made by the suspect, Abdul Kareem Abdul Passar, through his attorney.

The request was denied following an application by Woman Sub Inspector Priyanthi of the Commercial Crimes Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who stated that granting permission would hinder the investigation, as two other suspects are yet to be arrested in connection with the incident.

After considering these facts, the Magistrate rejected the suspect's request for temporary permission to leave the country.
