Srilanka, Dec. 28 -- The Lower Kadugannawa area of the Colombo-Kandy main road, which was closed due to recent landslides, reopened for traffic following the implementation of temporary safety measures, according to the National Building Research Institute (NBRI).

Despite the reopening, NBRI Director General Asiri Karunawardena emphasised that drivers must remain extremely vigilant as the area is still susceptible to landslide risks.

He further stated that motorists should strictly follow instructions issued by the NBRI, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

These observations followed a joint field inspection conducted today (27) by the NBRI and the Road Development Authority (RDA).
