Sri Lanka, April 27 -- A lorry transporting a stock of used tyres overturned in the Kottukachchiya area of Anamaduwa after one of its rear tyres detached while on the move.
The detached tyre struck a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction, causing the rider to suffer a severe leg fracture.
The injured motorcyclist was admitted to the Puttalam Base Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
The lorry, which was transporting the tyre stock from Kurunegala to Puttalam, overturned, scattering the tyres into a nearby paddy field.
Police said that in addition to the tyre that came off, another rear wheel of the lorry was also found to be damaged.
