Sri Lanka, March 20 -- The Election Commission has announced that Sri Lanka's Local Government Elections will be held on May 6.

The acceptance of nominations concluded at 12.00 noon today (20), following the nomination process that began on March 17 for 336 Local Government institutions.

The deadline for placing deposits ended yesterday (19). The official election date was confirmed after the conclusion of the nomination period.
