Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- A photograph by Sri Lankan wildlife photographer, Lakshitha Karunarathna, has been recognised in the renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.
His image, titled 'Toxic Tip', is one of just one hundred winning entries chosen for the exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London.
The picture shows a solitary elephant on a rubbish tip in Sri Lanka and was selected from a record-breaking number of over sixty thousand submissions.
Mr Karunarathna has been documenting the ongoing human-elephant conflict in the country, a problem that often sees elephants looking for food at open waste sites.
