Sri Lanka, May 16 -- Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis has been invited to join the Gujarat Titans for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mendis replaces England player Jos Buttler, who is unable to participate in the rest of the tournament after the IPL was postponed due to the Indo-Pakistan war.

Kusal Mendis recently played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and now gets an opportunity in the IPL following Buttler's withdrawal.

In a similar move, Dasun Shanaka has also joined the Gujarat Titans to replace New Zealand's Glenn Phillips, who withdrew from the tournament due to injury.

The Gujarat Titans are currently at the top of the points table, having won 8 out of 11 matches.
