Sri Lanka, Feb. 22 -- The two assailants arrested in connection with last night's shooting in Kotahena were shot dead by police while allegedly attempting to grab a firearm and escape during a weapons recovery operation.According to Police Media Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga, the suspects had led officers to a location where they claimed to have hidden more firearms. However, they reportedly attempted to snatch a weapon from a police officer and open fire, prompting police to shoot in self-defense. Both suspects succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to the hospital.A police constable was injured in the incident and is receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital.
