Sri Lanka, April 16 -- The main suspect arrested in connection with the shooting death of former Boossa High-Security Prison Superintendent Siridath Dhammika is due to be presented before the Balapitiya Magistrate's Court today (16), following which a detention order is expected to be obtained.

The 31-year-old suspect, a resident of the Ambalangoda - Kuleewatta area, was apprehended yesterday (15) while allegedly attempting to flee to Bangkok, Thailand, using forged travel documents.

Facial recognition technology at the airport's departure terminal was instrumental in the arrest.

Police say the suspect is the chief shooter for "Karandeniya Sudda," an alleged leader of an organised crime gang in the South.
