Sri Lanka, March 19 -- Dr. Gunendra Gayantha, Head of the Psychology Unit at the Department of Philosophy, University of Kelaniya, has died in a road accident on the Central Expressway.

The accident occurred at the 48.5R milestone on the expressway last night (18) when a van traveling from Kurunegala towards Mirigama lost control and collided with the rear of a lorry moving in the same direction.

Seven people, including the van's driver, were injured in the accident, and Dr. Gayantha died while being admitted to the Mirigama Hospital.

The deceased was a 46-year-old resident of Makola, South. His body has been placed at the Mirigama Hospital morgue, and further investigations are being conducted by Mirigama Police.
