Sri Lanka, Dec. 11 -- The Attorney General today (11) filed indictments before Hambantota High Court Judge Duminda Mudunkotuwa against the Chief Priest and the Store Keeper of the Kataragama Devalaya. They face charges of criminal misappropriation and criminal breach of trust over the disappearance of a gold plate valued at Rs 1.96 million.
The two men indicted are Somipala T. Ratnayake, who serves as the Chief Priest, and Munasinghe Mannapperuma Saman Priyantha, also known as 'Chooti Mahattaya', who acted as the Devalaya's Store Keeper.
Following the indictment, the Hambantota High Court Judge ordered the release of each accused on a personal bail of Rs 500,000, considering the submissions made by their respective counsels.
