Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has said that Sri Lanka's long-delayed Provincial Council elections will be held next year, once the ongoing delimitation process is complete.

Party General Secretary Tilvin Silva made the remarks during an event in Jaffna, where he expressed confidence that the JVP would emerge victorious at the polls.

Silva also addressed the issue of Katchatheevu, the small island in the Palk Strait that has recently resurfaced in Indian political debate.

He reiterated that the territory belongs to Sri Lanka.
