Sri Lanka, Oct. 19 -- Members of the Joint Opposition have succeeded in securing control of the Gampola Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society following its recent election.

According to our correspondent, none of the members representing the National People's Power (NPP) who contested the election were elected to the Board of Directors.

However, seven members of the Joint Opposition were successfully elected.

The newly elected members of the Gampola Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society's Board of Directors are: Sithum Aloka Uyanwatta, Pradeep Godagama, Gamini Karunasinghe, Aruna Kumara, J.M. Jayaweera, D.D. Nandakumara, and Jayatilaka Banda.
