Sri Lanka, May 14 -- Lawyers for the families of 72 victims of the Jeju Air plane crash in December 2024 have filed a criminal complaint against 15 individuals, including South Korean government officials and airline safety representatives.

The relatives allege negligence in managing safety risks and violations of the Aviation Safety Act regarding the crash at Muan Airport, which killed 179 people.

They are demanding a thorough investigation into the decision to return to land after a bird strike, the aircraft's engine maintenance, and the appropriateness of the runway embankment's construction.
