Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- In response to the recent disaster situation in Sri Lanka, the Government of Japan decided to provide $2.5 million in emergency grant aid.

This aid is slated to be implemented through the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the World Food Programme (WFP).

It is reported that $1 million in aid will be provided through the IOM for 615 shelter kits, including kitchen sets, washing kits, and bedding sets, for severely affected households in the Kandy, Badulla, and Kegalle areas.
