Sri Lanka, Feb. 13 -- Executive Committee member of the People's Struggle Alliance, Nuwan Bopage, announced the intention to appeal the death sentences handed to 12 defendants regarding the killing of former MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala and his security officer.
Bopage made these remarks during a press conference in Colombo organised by activists. The alliance alleges that the true "killers" and "instigators" who led to this event remain at large. They further claim that the repressive environment created by the Rajapaksa-Ranil coalition incited such unfortunate incidents.
