Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- The 119th birth anniversary of former President J.R. Jayewardene is being commemorated today (17).

The celebration is set to begin at 3:00 PM at the main auditorium of the J.R. Jayewardene Centre in Colombo.

The memorial lecture will be delivered by Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku.

The event is being organised by the J.R. Jayewardene Centre.

The main objective of the event is to educate the public on J.R. Jayewardene's influence on Sri Lanka's political and social spheres.
