Sri Lanka, June 21 -- The Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel has announced that Sri Lankan nationals wishing to return home via Egypt must possess a valid Israeli visa.

This clarification comes after four Sri Lankans attempting to travel through the Egyptian border crossing yesterday faced extensive questioning by Egyptian authorities, including one individual without a valid Israeli visa.

Due to the closure of Tel Aviv Airport, the Embassy had previously advised Sri Lankans to obtain necessary documents and travel via the Egyptian border.

Ambassador Nimal Bandara clarified that even in an emergency, foreign nationals without a valid or with an expired Israeli visa will not be permitted to enter Egypt.
