Sri Lanka, May 26 -- Police have begun recording statements regarding the suspected suicide of a second-year student at the Wayamba National College of Education, who was found dead in her hostel room. Statements were taken from college authorities and students today, the 26th of May.

Students staged a protest, alleging that teachers at the institution are responsible for the death of the student, Sanjeevani Kumari, a 36-year-old from Teldeniya, Kandy. Her friends claim she had been distressed for several days due to continuous harassment from teachers. They further posted on social media that individuals in positions of authority should be empathetic and emotionally mature.
