Sri Lanka, Feb. 18 -- Former Minister Piyankara Jayaratne was served indictments before the Colombo High Court today (18) over charges of corruption.
The indictments, filed by the Bribery Commission, allege that Jayaratne influenced officials of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to deposit Rs. 494,000 into a bank account in Chilaw during his tenure as Minister of Civil Aviation.
High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne ordered the former minister to be released on two surety bails of Rs. 500,000 each.
