Sri Lanka, Oct. 15 -- The Department of Meteorology, issuing a statement, announced that the weather over the island is being influenced by the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) (the zone where winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres converge) and an atmospheric disturbance persisting around the island.
Consequently, an increase in rainfall can be expected today (15) and over the next few days.
Rain or thundershowers are likely in most parts of the island after 1:00 PM today.
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm may occur in certain areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Ampara district.
