Sri Lanka, March 20 -- The Sri Lanka Vehicle Importers Association announced that imported vehicles can be released to the local market from next week.

Chairman Prasad Manage said this follows an extraordinary gazette issued by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake as the Minister of Finance, removing obstacles to the release of nearly 400 vehicles imported from Japan and stuck at customs.

The gazette, issued yesterday, authorizes the Bureau Veritas Bureau, which had obtained export inspection certificates for those vehicles, to facilitate their release.

Meanwhile, the Hambantota International Port announced that 462 electric vehicles from the second batch of imported vehicles will also be released to the local market. Out of 1159 vehicle...
