Sri Lanka, Feb. 19 -- Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala has announced that the main office of the Department of Immigration and Emigration will be open 24 hours a day starting today to facilitate passport issuance.

To support this initiative, a special bus service will also be introduced to the main office in Battaramulla during nighttime hours.

Recent delays in passport issuance had resulted in people waiting in queues for days. In response, the Cabinet has approved the appointment of additional staff to ensure the Department operates around the clock, aiming to issue 4,000 permits daily.
