Sri Lanka, July 12 -- The Sri Lanka Customs has announced that vehicles illegally imported into the country will have to be re-exported if the government does not provide relief under the current circumstances.
Customs officials stated that the government is working towards a solution regarding this matter and that a final decision will be announced soon.
Customs emphasised that when importing used vehicles, a certificate with a cancellation stamp from the bank of the exporting country, confirming the cancellation of its registration, is mandatory.
The Sri Lanka Customs currently holds over 300 vehicles imported without this essential certificate, and these vehicles cannot be released into the local market.
