Sri Lanka, Feb. 13 -- The Walana Central Anti-Corruption Task Force has seized a jeep illegally imported into the country by a former coordinating secretary to ex-President Maithripala Sirisena, near the Parliament Junction.
The police had previously recovered two other vehicles bearing the same registration number as the seized jeep. Investigations revealed that the vehicle had been smuggled into the country in parts, packed in a container, and later assembled. Fake number plates and forged documents, allegedly prepared with the involvement of officials from the Department of Motor Traffic, were used to register the jeep.
