Sri Lanka, July 22 -- Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa stated today (22) that a certain number of illegal weapons are still in circulation across the country.
He made this comment while responding to a question raised by journalists at the weekly cabinet media briefing held to announce the decisions taken by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Journalists questioned the Minister regarding the ongoing sporadic shootings reported in the country and the increasing number of incidents involving elephants being shot.
In response, Minister Jayatissa acknowledged that illegal firearms and underworld activities have spread through various layers of society.
