Sri Lanka, June 28 -- The Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious, and Cultural Affairs, Dr Hiniduma Sunil Senewi, has announced that all unauthorised constructions within the 200-yard sensitive area and the 400-yard boundary from Sigiriya's outer moat will be removed.

Speaking at a press conference in Sigiriya yesterday (27), he stated that nearly 124 individuals residing within this demarcated zone would be relocated.

This process will be carried out through mutual understanding, without the need for court orders or police directives.

The move aims to protect the historical and archaeological integrity of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
