Sri Lanka, April 25 -- Matara Magistrate today (25) ruled that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon has committed contempt of court.
This ruling stems from a violation of the orders issued by the court when Tennakoon was granted bail on April 10 in connection with the shooting incident that occurred near a hotel in Weligama, Matara.
Acknowledging that his court lacks the legal jurisdiction to take further action in this matter, the Magistrate has directed the Attorney General to file a case against Deshabandu Tennakoon before the Court of Appeal.
