Sri Lanka, April 27 -- Grandpass Police have arrested two suspects, a husband and son-in-law, in connection with the brutal murder of a 65-year-old woman.

Investigations revealed that the woman, a mother of two, was stabbed to death, her body cut in two, and then dumped in a garbage canal by her son-in-law.

The deceased lived with her second husband on the lower floor of a two-story house, while her daughter and son-in-law occupied the upper floor.

Police said the woman was involved in drug trafficking and was having an affair with a 25-year-old youth who frequently visited to purchase drugs.

Investigators believe this illicit relationship was the main motive behind the murder.
