Srilanka, Dec. 9 -- A high-level national committee has been formed to supervise the management and distribution of foreign humanitarian aid for those affected by the recent flooding in Sri Lanka.

Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General (Retd) Aruna Jayasekara, announced the formation of the committee at a special briefing today (8th) at the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).

The committee is tasked with ensuring that all international relief supplies and aid reach the communities in need in an organised and transparent manner.

Major General (Retd) Aruna Jayasekara will serve as the committee's chair, with the appointment taking immediate effect.
